P ONE MAN KILLED. ANOTHER GOES DOWN WITH THE LUCINDA.

Particulars to hand by the mail steamer of the collision between tho Garonne and tty Lucinda show that the Garonne sighted the Lucinda ten minutes before the collision took place. The Lucinda was showing a green light. The Garonne repeatedly signalled the Lucinda to port her helm, but no notice was taken of the warning and apfarently no watch was kept on board the lucinda. Tho Garonne struck tho Lucinda amidships. Twenty of tho Lucinda's crow clambered aboard the Garonne One man was killed by the collision. Another man, •who was a cripple, refused to leave tho Lucinda because he Avas tinablo to swim, and went down with the vessel, which sank in ten minutes.
