Tho New South Wales Government havo received tho communication of a cablo from the Premier of New Zealand intimating that his Government had decided to join in the commission to bo appointed to consider tho best means of exterminating rabbits. BIG DIVIDEND. Adelaide, This day. A dividend of £10 per share has been made payable to-day to the shareholders in tho Broken Hill Mine from the amount realised by the company by the salo of certain blocks to English capitalists. MINERS' STRIKE. Information received from the Moorna Mines, situated near tho western boundary of New South Wales, states that three hundred miners have gone out on strike because tho company owning the mines have decided to retain one quarter of tho payments due for contract- until such times as the contracts havo been completed, and tho certificate granted by the engineer in charge of works. MORE WRECKAGE—UNHEEDED DISTRESS SIGNALS. Roc_iiami_on, March 1. Further wreckage from the ship Eastminister has been washed upon the beach in the neighborhood of Kcpplc Bay, which leaves but little doubt that the ship has been lost with all hands. It has been ascertained that during tho recent severe storms rockets were seen, and tho discharge of guns was heard as if a vessel was in distress, but strange to say, tho residents took no notice of tho signals. Tho New Zealand companies interested in tho fire at Messrs Surgood, Butler, and Mitchell's on Wednesday night aro :— Union, £2000 ; New Zealand, £2,500 ; Colonial, £1000. IRRIGATION. Messrs Chafi'oy Bros, have decided to float a company to work their Mitdura irrigation colony. The capital is to be £050,000. ATTEMPTED BLACKMAIL. Three men have been arrested on a charge of levying blackmail from the manager of one of the city banks by threatening to expose him ou a charge of indecency. When the accused were brought before the Magistrates the truth was ascertained by the confession of one of the trio, who admitted that it was a caso of blackmail, and all three were committed for trial for assault and conspiracy.
