it was stated that expresses were running all. day from the wreck to the Customs House, and that it was quite unnecessary for acoused to have taken the bottle over, even if his plea was true. The bottle was concealed in the eleeve of his coat.— J. S. Pearcc deposed that they (accused and witness) were expecting a box from London, and which contained things that had belonged to them at Home. They found soveral things such as an ulster and trousers, which they recognised as their property. (Papers were handed in showing the list of goods contained in the box). —The R.M. reserved judgment till to-morrow, Bail was allowed in one surety of £50. Richard Sutcliffe, , William John Pritchard, and George Sullivan, were also charged with having stolen goods from the wreck of the Northumberland yesterday. The R.M. remanded the cases tUi Monday. Bail was allowed. Mr Dick appeared for Sutcliffe, and Mr Cresswell for Pritchard.
