Tremdenblatt insists that the mission of the Bulgarian Regency is now fulfilled, and urges it to resign. Several " Invincibles" have returned to Ireland. The Agent-General at London has forwarded to the Government hero the correspondence which has passed between the British and German Foreign Office, showing that Germany handed over the Government of the Solomon Islands to a New Guinea Company, but that the acquisition of land by the Company is prohibited. The Mayor of Molbourne has summoned a meeting of provincial Mayors to consider the steps to be taken in Victoria for the celebration of the Queen's Jubilee.

A serious accident occiirred to-day at Tahoraite station. Robert Taylor "was engaged in loading strainers, when one fell across his loins, resulting in the paralysing of the lower parts of the body. Medical aid was sent for from Woodville.

The following is a list of the Westland's cargo:—s74B bales wool, 34 skins, 28 leather, 30 basils, 21 casks tallow. The captain's wife and child are tho only passengers. TiJiAKTJ, This day. A peculiar case came before tho R.M. this morning interesting to licensed victuallers. A Christchurch brewer supplied in September last a Timaru publican with two hogsheads of beer, for the value of which the brewer now sued. It appeared from the evidence that when the beer arrived it was seized by the Customs for non-cancellation of stamps, and lodged in bond. Subsequently it was released by an order from the Collector of Customs, who handed it to Mr Innes, but on the latter offering to send them again to Mr Moore free of charge the latter declined to receive them, on the ground that his
need for them had passed away. Evidence •was taken to-day, and the legal argument was reserved.
