Yesterday afternoon Mr James Connor, employed at Messrs Lycett and Cross's mill, and brother to Mr Hugh Connor, at the Spit, sustained a fracture of the left leg. He was felling a sapling about eight inches through, when it jumped back from the stump against his leg, pinning it to the ground, and breaking it above the ankle. The accident happened in a remote part of the bush. The sufferer had first to be slung in a wire rope over a >*ixty-feet deep gully, and afterwards carried two miles on a bush stretcher. He was conveyed to the Waipukurau Hospital this morning. Waipawa, This day. A man named Connor, in tins employ of Messrs Lyoett and Cross, Makatoku, was brought to the County Hospital this morning with a broken leg, caused by the falling of timber. Danevieke, This day.
