At tho Supremo Court to day the North Now Zealand Woollon Company sued Jamoa Cairne for £110 6s 3d, calls overdue Tho defence was a denial that defendant was a shareholder of tho company; that ho had boon induced by misroprosentationa to take up 1260 shares, but had sont it notico of withdrawal; had neithor accepted tho articlos of the association nor paid the calls ! for the company. It was contended that the misrepresentations wore not matorial, tho letter of withdrawal was ncvor received. Justico Ward docidod in favor of defendant, with costs on the lowest scale. Tho decision is ono of vital importanco to tho company, as it is feared many othor shareholders will ropudiate liability. DransuiN, This day. At tho Oity Court to-day Constable Fleming , woe charged with assaulting Mr Broad, ft prominont member of the temporanco party, who declares that because, after watching a woman loave, and tho constable enter an hotel after midnight, ho romarkod that tho publicans, poJicomon, and prostitutes wore in loaguo, tho constable knocked him down and sovorely maltreated him. Tho complainant swears positively to the constablo's identity, but tho defonco is that Homing was not near tho spot.
