CRICKET.

A cricket match was played at Petane yesterday between teams chosen from employes of Messrs Robjohn aud Co. and Messrs Kinross and Co., Port Ahuriri, when a very pleasant day was spent, the participants in the game seeming to thoroughly enjoy this diversion from their daily duties in tho store, etc. Messrs Kinross and Co.'s side were the first to go to the wicketd, totting up a total of 89 runs, Provis (23) and Warden (22, not out) being the principal scorers, while "extras" (9 wides) were responsible for twelve of the total runs scored. Messrs Robjohn and Co.'s team then handled tho willow and made 59, Bc.cham (16) being the only double-figure scorer,' "extra." on this occasion scoring 14. Messr, Kinross and Co.'s employes, in their second innings, made 79, Fleming (10), Russell (1.0), and Blackburn (28, not out) being the principal contributors. Messrs Robjohn and Co.'s team, requiring 110 runs to win, then went in for their second innings, and had put together 71 runs for six wickets when time was called. Hindmarsh carried out his hat for a well played 30, and Mo. sman was run out for 10, while "oxtras" was again to the fore with 11. Tbe match was decided on the first innings, and' it is understood that another game will be played during the season. Chapman and Warden, and F. Robjohns and Wyllie, bowled well for their respective sides. The fielding was not first-class. Mr Geo. Pram umpired for Messrs Robjohns and Co. and Mr George White for Messrs Kinross and' Co., both giving everp satisfaction. •
