GARRISON BAND SPORTS.

Tho attractions of a musical programmo by tho Garrison Band, sports of various kinds, the beauty of tho situation, and tho general finonosa of tho day, combined to draw a tromendous crowd to Farndon yesterday, nnd it was satisfactory to find on all hands tho outing voted a genuino success. Appended aro tho results in tho various contests:—

Maiden Kaeo, 250 yards.—lst prize, G. TJlph; 2nd, 10s, H. Hathorall. Eight started.

Boys' Race (under 12), J. M'Knight. Skipping Match, for girls under 15, Miss Parker.

Bayonet Exorcise, for squads of 12 men, prize £3.—For this ovent, which excited great interest, two teams entered—a squad of Naval Artillery Volunteers under Drill Instructor Nelson and a squad of Napier Eifles under Color-Sergeant Chicken. Tho award ot tho judges was in favor of the Navttls.

JFiro Brigades Competition.—ln this event tho conditions were as follows: — Men to lie down on the ground partly dressed, get up at tho word of command and dress, run 50 yards to hose reel, then with that anothor 50 yards to fire plug, lay out 150 feet of hose, and couple branch. Two teams entered, one from tho Spit nnd ono from tho Napier Brigade, as under: —Spit, W. Siinmonds, Barry, Harmand, Connor, and Harrison; Napier, C. Simmonds, Hathorall, Laws, Starkey, and Holland. The Napior team won by 7secs. 410 Yards Handicap.—lst, J. McGrnth (11yds) ; 2nd, £1, A. G. Howe (11yds) ; F. Collins (ICyds), J. Parker (syds), 11. Cantle and F. 11. Whitoman (scratch) also ran.

Walking Match, one milo.—Fivo started for this event. Barry won tho trophy. Men's Swimming Match (220 yards). Ist Simpson; Lyman, Ross, Catherall, Miller, and Spoonor also contested. Simpson won easily. Friendly Societies' Handicap, 350 yards. Ist prize, J. Hume (4yd.) ; 2nd, jGI, G. C. Brausch (G yds); G. Ulph (4yds) and F. H. Whitoman (soratch) also ran.

Running and Firing race, for Volunteers. Competitors to fall in at firing point, fire two rounds, run to winning post, back to firing point, and firo two moro rounds, and finish at winning post. Seventeen entered for this event, whioh was won by Private Franklin, of the Navals.

Tug-of-war, won by a team of rcon from Tomoana.
