November 9. Tho reply of lung Thebaw to tho ultimatum of the British High Commissioner is distinctly hostile, and in consequence a portion of tho troops under tho command of General Prendergast havo been ordered to cross tho Burmese frontier, while four regiments are ascending tho river Irrawaddy to Mandalay, tho king's capital.
