Dilke's Bire, Albion, was by North Lincoln, dam Miss Giraffo (dam of Rapid Bay), by King Tom, etc. Dilko is a rich dark brown, with black points, standing 16 hands high on well-set legs. His bone is large and flat, his feet perfect, his action first-class. He has a rare constitution, a docile temper, and for soundness, strength, and substance, has no equal on the Coast, whilo his three andfour-year-old performances on tho principal racecourses iv Tasmania will compare favorably with thoso of any siro over imported in tho district. In 1874, as a throe-year-old ho won the Grand Stand Stakes, ran second in the Tasmaniun Handicap, won tho Maidon Plate, the Tomar Plate, tho Mowbray Handicap, and Forced Handicap. In 1875, the Tasmanian performances of Dilko wero exceptionally brilliant, as the following record, taken from tho Australasian of tho 20th February of that year shows: —Won the Grand Stand Stakes, ono milo and threequarters, time 3min. 20secs.: ran second in tho Tasmanian T.C. Handicap, one mile and a-half; won the Wold Stakes, one mile and three-quarters, time 3min. 27secs. As a four-year-old, ho won tho great four-year-old Handicap in Melbourno in a canter, and finished third in tho Free Handicap at tho same mooting, having mot and defeatod some of the finest horses in tho Colonies.
