April 26. A report was prevalent to-day to the effect that diplomatic relations had been broken off betAveen France and Egypt, but the announcement Avas premature. M. Camille Barren, the French Minister at this Court, AA-as actually instructed, hoAvever,_by his Government to leave yesterday, failing satisfaction being afforded for the suppression of the Bosphorc Egypticnne. His departure, however, has been postponed OAvmg to negotiations for a compromise having been initiated, and it is now hoped that affairs are progressing in the direction of a peaceful solution of the difficulty.
