NAPIER HARBOR BOARD.

Tho Board met at 2 o'clock. Present: J. D. Ormond, M.H.R. (in the chair), AY. C. Smith, M.H.R., Wardrop, J. Vauticr, J. N. AVilliams, J. Neal, J. A. Smith, and H. Williams.

A letter of regret for absence was read by the chairman from Mr Dolbel.

CORRESPONDENCE,

From Union S.S Company, asking for exemption certificates for Captains Smith and J. Richardson, thepilothaving certified to competency in navigating vessels to and from the outer harbor.—Granted.

From Mr Logan stating that Mr Carlile would act as solicitor during his absence.

Description of Gibbons' patent cradle breakwater.

From the Chairman of New Plymouth Harbor Board as to cost of cement, &c.

From Inspector of Nuisances complaining of state of inner lagoon. Resolved that tenders be called for to carry on the work of reclamation.

From the Engineer as to dredging on the boulder bank, and the repairs near the cattle wharf.

From tho pilot reporting a depth of water at high water outside the piers of 13ft 6in, but no alteration in the channel or depth of water inside the piers since last report.

From Mr Goodall asking for tho sum of £395 balance of account for preparing design for harbor.—Deferred. From the Wairoa County Council as to the charges levied on goods landed on the wharves for transhipment, aud asking for a reduction of fees.—Declined.
