Evelyn Ashley stated thatthe Cape, colonists would not becalled upon-to bear any portion of the cost of the expedition to Bechuanaland. The. Colonial Under-Secretary also stated that the Imperial i Government' would not assent to the settlement respecting Bechuanaland as effected by the Cape Government.
