' ; . ■ : Chbistchuroii, This day. ■ iAt tho Canterbury Frozen Meat Company's second annual meeting yesterday the directors showed tho net profit for the year to have been £3418,.appropriated to a dividend of 8 per cent., absorbing £1000 ; returns. : to shareholders; charged |d per lb for freezing, £1743 ; preliminary expenses written oft', £G3 ;.reserve, £24 ; the balance curried;; forward. ; The capacity of accommodation been,doubled, and an improved Haslarri machine erected at a total cost of about £7000. The property account now stands at £22,129, During the year 72,907 sheep, 85 cattle, and 14 pigs were killed and frozen, and 4400 sheep were killed to bp frozen on sailing , vessels at Lyttclton. The existing freight contracts expire in January next, and under these 00,000 sheep are to be frozen. Sailing vessels have been chartered to convey three cargoes during the coming year. The following - resolutions were passed:--

; " Having in view the extremely' factorily nature of the frozen uieat trade in England, especially as regards., the Jjohdo.n' charges, and expenses incurred, it is desirable that, ioint action of the several New

Zealand Freezing Companies may be arranged, and the necessary action tuken to secure some more satisfactory mode of frozen meat and other produce." "That representatives from the several Meat Freezing Companies bo invited to meet in Christchureh on the same day in September next, when joint action can be taken, and also to agree upon making freight engagements."
