A COUNTY COUNCIL IN A FIX.
Wanoanui, This day. A rather peculiar fix occurred at a special meeting of the County Council called for yesterday. The Chairman, who was appointed during his absence at the last meeting, declined to act and tendered his resignation. No member could be induced to accept the position, its it is thought the Council will collapse in a mouth or two, and they do not want to have the fag end of the work. Eventually, after about an hour's discussion, five names of councillors agreeable to tho course were put in a hat and drawn, the lot falling on Mr C. R. Sommerville, who was then elected chairman.
