THE PRETTY PINE MURDER.

The following further particulars regarding the murder near Hay are from the Sydney Morning Herald: — Information of an atrocious murder has been received at Dendiquin. The scene of the tragedy is ten miles distant, on the road to Hay, near a place called Pretty Pine. The victim was a hawker_ named Myzan, who was returning from AVileannia to' Kerang, in Victoria, where his wife keeps a hotel. The body was found covered with sheepskins, alongside of a wa«'on. Indications in the vicinity of the wagon point to tho fact that Myzan was sitting in tho vehicle when the fatal blow was struck, and that tho body was dragged to the opposite side of the wagon from the road, and then covered with sheepskins and bags. The head was horribly crushed with a heavy club, supposed to bo a portion of the root of an adjacent tree, and then further mutilated with a tomahawk, which lias also been found. The police have ascertained that Myzan was in possession of v sum of money in cheques, notes, some time previous to the discovery of the body, but no money was found on him. A clue has been discovered, and the police aro now actively investigating the affair. A man named .Joseph Gordon was arrested at Mathoura on suspicion of murdering tho hawker. The man answers to the description of the suspected murderer. He was interviewed, and asked to whom he gave some of tho missing cheques. The people by whom the murderer was seen in company with tin murdered man have yet to see him, with the view of recognition ; they will see him in tho cell before being brought before the Court in the morning. Tho man denies any knowledge of tho affair. He states that he came from Til Til, near Balranald, with sheep, about a fortnight ago, and has not been in Deniliquiu since. There is much excitement over the affair as regards the man's identity.
