AN EXPLANATION.
[TO THE EDITOR OE THE DAILY TELEGRAPH. 1 g IBj —In reference to the report of the last meeting of tho Education Board I havo been requested by Mr R. Monteith to explain that it was not he who supplied the information about the Takapau teacher. I may state that, having heard of the case, I applied to Mr Wilding (believing him to be the hospital secretary) for denial or confirmation of tho report, ancl he kindly sent me the letter from wliich I read the extract at the meeting. Mr AVilding is not the secretary, but Mr Monteith. As, however, Mr Wilding takes a very active part in the management of the hospital, the position of the case remains unaltered, but Mr Monteith, being a friend of Mr Stewart's, wishes me to make this correction.—l am, '' R. Harding. August 21, 1883.
