THE GOLD PROSPECTS OF CANTERBURY.
Christchurch, This day
The men Avho Avent to Rakaia Gorgo
prospecting for gold haA'e returned unsuccessful, the weather rendering it impossible to examine the country at present. Further information from the alleged goldfield on the Ninety-mile Beach is to the effect that only about fifteen men are prospecting-, and that it is impossible to form a reliable opinion as to the value of the finds until better appliances are aA-ail-ablc for Avashing. At present there is nothing wliatoA-er to justify a rush to the ground.
