PORT OF NAPIER

The Union Steamship Company's fl.s. Taiaroa, Capt. Hansby, left Wellington at 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon for Northern ports, and should "arrive in our roadstead by about 2 o'clock to-day. She will be tendered on arrival for mails, passengers, and cargo by the steamer Sir Donald, ancl at 4 o'clock this afternoon is announced to steam for Gisborne and Auckland.

Tho steamer Kiwi, Capt. James Campbell, loaded up to-day at the breastwork with wool, tallow, preserved meats, and other cargo, and was to have got away for Wellington at about 5 o'clock this evening. Th« p.s. Manaia, Capt. Baxter, is to get away for Wairoa at 8 o'clock to-morrow morning. The steamer Sir Donald is to sail to-night for Waimarama with a good cargo. The Union Steamship Company's s.s. Southern Cross, Capt. Allman, is telegraphed as having left Auckland at 7 o'clock last evening for Gisborne, Napier, and Wellington, ancl should arrive here by Thursday morning. She will discharge her cargo insido, and at noon on Friday is announced to steam from the wharf for Wellington. She is the bearer of tho East Coast portion of the inward 'Frisco mail. The steamer Maori is expected to get away for Wairoa to-night. [by telegraph.] "Wellington, This day. The steamer Tui, which left hero for Wanganui yesterday afternoon, returned this morning with the steamer Huia in tow. The latter vessel was bound from Wanganui to Wellington, and when about twenty miles north of Kapiti broke her shaft close to the screw. She was picked up by the Tui about an hour afterwards. New Plymouth, This day. Although tho captain of the Rotorua was signalled that a boat would come off, the steamer passed without stopping. There would have been no difficulty in landing tho mails without detaining the steamer.
