Mr Gladstone, iv the House of Commons, has refused to give any reason for the Government not appointing H.R.H. the Duke of Albany as Viceroy of Canada, The Standard suggests that H.R.H. should be appointed Governor of New South AVales or Victoria.
Lichung- Chang, the Chinese Commander on the Hanoi frontier, has declared that the Chinese rights in Aunam will bo upheld by military force. It is reported that Hanoi has been captured.
