ROBBERY OF JEWELLERY.
Wellington, This day,
. A robbery of jewellery occurred recently either at Wellington, Kaikoura, or on board the steamer Wakatu. Mr Skippington, a new arrival, took a passage to Kaikoura by the steamer, and on arrival at his destination his boxes were sent to a hotel. Two or three days later they were removed to his future abode.. It was then found that one box had been tampered with, and Mr Skippington says that jewellery to the value of £100 had been abstracted. On the return of the Wakatu early this morning the detectives made a careful examination of the crew, no thing.suspicious being, however, found.
