A meeting Avas held last evening in the school-room to take steps to form a Cheese and Bacon Manufactory Company, at Avhich there Avere about 170 persons present. It was ascertained that a plentiful supply- of milk could be procured for the undertaking-, and no doubt the most of tho required capital (£2000) will be taken by tlw settlers
themselves. The shares are proposed to be £1 each. The following committee to make preliminary arrangements was appointed to report to an adjourned meeting on the 13th March, namely, Messrs Lloyd, Thomas, Moore, Carlile, Fountaine, Murray, Guillard, and Campbell, and at the first committee meeting held immediately afterwards the names of Messrs Peebles and Chamier were added.
King Tawhiao is expected by the natives here to pass through <■« route for Tahorite to-morrow or Saturday.
