DUNEDIN.
This day. At the Police Court yesterday the man Dobbin was committed for trial on two further charges of stealing sewing- machines. These make about a dozen cases against him. The rabbit nuisance is causing much interest in Ota go. One runholder in the Wakatipu di.-trict declares that his run does not now carry within one-third of the sheep it did four years ago. He strongly advocates the introduction of the ferret, saying that a thousand men laying phosporised grain would not clear that district of rabbits.
A young woman named M'Dowall was killed , yesterday by v buggy accident. The horse bolted and she was thrown out. A. Mr Maxwell, who was with her in the buggy, was also thrown out, but escaped uninjured.
