Patoka Survey- District. 11, .. 5 .. 263 1 0 ..131 12 6 Description.—The Sections in Block XIV. and Sections 30 to 35, Block XIII., Pohui District, are chiefly forest AA'ith a few clearings. The timber consists of Rimu, Matai, and a little AVhite Pine. The formation of the ground is undulating aud aa-c-11 Avatered, the soil inclined to be light. Sections 1, 2, 8, 4, 5, 11, and 12 of Block 11., Patoka, 15, and 16 of Block XIII., and 8 of Block 15, Pohui Districts, are open hilly fern land, with a little bush on Sections 11, 12, 15, and 8. Sections 1 and 2, Block VI., Patoka, open fern land, hilly, soil light, overlying limestone formation, a "small quantity of bush on each. Access is given by roads Avhich have- been partly formed, about 2_ miles through the bush being cleared of timber. The HaAvke's Bay County Council has ill course of construction a line of road giving access to these lands from the inland Patea road, a distance of six miles. Maungaharuru District: Fern hills and spurs on tho Avestern slopes of the Maungaharuru range, the soil is light, about one half of Section 2 is undulating country covered AA'ith. natural grasses. Section 3is good pastoral land. Section 4 has frontage to Taupo-road. A I'cav clumps of bush are scattered about on Section 1. AVaitara District: Open fern country, hilly.
