NEW PLYMOUTH.
This day. The steamer Penguin, Avith the outAvard San Francisco mail on board, anchored near Stoney River yesterday afternoon, and steamed back to harbor at 5 o'clook last evening. It appears that, when off Opunake, the Penguin's machinery became disarranged, and it Avas found necessary to stop her engines to put them in order. The detention was only temporary, and she proceeded on her Avay to the Manakau at 7 o'clock last night.
