PORT AHURIRI.

The annual meeting of householders for the election of a School Committee for the ensuing year took place in the school yesterday evening. Mr Wilkie Avas A-oted to tho chair, and presented the outgoing committee's report, AA'hich stated that, notAvithstanding the large amount of sickness during two or three months of the year, and consequent injury to the attendance, the progress made by the pupils has been marked, the percentage of passes in the A-arious standards at the Inspector's examination being A-ery high, reflecting great credit on the head master, Mr Smith, and his staff. The attendance at school had steadily increased, there being 155 scholars on the roll at tho end of the year. In consequence of the increased attendance the accommodation had become insufficient, and the Education Board had A r oted £250 for the purpose of providing additional accommodation, The most cordial relations had existed between the committee and the teacher, everything having Avorked smoothly and I'aA-orably for the success of the school. A statement of receipts and expenditure having been read, and the resignation of outgoing committee formally tendered, the folioAving were elected a committee for the ensuing term : —T. M'Carthy, 30 votes ; F. E. Saunders, 22; AY. Seyinonr, 21; D. Cotton, 20 ;W. Boyd, 44 ; 'C. Cranby, 12 ; G. Plested, 10. A meeting of the ne\A-ly-elcctcd committee took place after the general meeting, at Avhich Mr Cranby Avas elected chairman, Mr Saunders secretary, and Mr Boyd treasurer.
