Patoka Survey District. IT. .. 5 .. 2G3 10.. 131 12 0 Desceiptiox.-—The Sections in Block XIV. and Sections 30 to 35, Block XIII., Pohui District, are chiefly forest with a few clearings. The timber consists of Rimu, Matai, and a little AVhite Pine. The fonnatiou of the ground is undulating and well watered, the soil inclined to be light. Sections 1, 2, 3, -1, 5, 11, and 12 of Block 11., Patoka, 15, and 1G of Block XIII., and 8 of Block 15, Pohui Districts, are open hilly fern land, with a little bush on Sections 11, 12, 15, and 8. Sections 1 and 2, Block VI., Patoka, open fern land, hilly, soil light, overlying limestone fonnatiou, a small quantity of bush on each. Access is given by roads which have been partly formed, about 2-i miles through the bush being cleared of timber. The Hawke's Bay County Council has iv course of construction a line of road giving access to these lands from the inland Patea road, a distance of six miles. Section 2 has a small frontage to the Taupo-road, and is bounded ou one side by the Mohaka river. Sections 3 and 4 have frontage to the Taupo-road. Maungaharuru District: Fern hills and spurs on the western slopes of the Maungaharuru range, the soil is light, about one half of Section 2 is undulating country covered with natural grasses. Section 3is good pastoral land. Section 4 has frontage to Taupo-road. A few clumps of bush are scattered about on Suction i. Waitara District: Open fern country, hilly. A bridle-road on the permanent grades has been formed a distance of 12 miles through the block, starting from the Tauporoad about 35 miles from Napier.
