The Tambour-Major Opera Company's season closes to-night at the Theatre Eoyal with the presentation of a triple bill for the benefit of Miss Elsa May, consisting of the third act of " Maritana," a musical melange, and the first act of "La Fille de Madame Angofc." A concert will be given in St. John's school-room this evening, commencing at 7.30, the proceeds to be devoted to the fund for the relief of the Schoeffler family. The committee of the Hawke's Bay Horticultural Society meets in the Council Chamber to-morrow at 11 a.m., and a general meeting of the members will be held in the same place at 2 p.m. Mr Ryan sells by auction to-morrow, at 11 a.m., on the ground, the building lately occupied as a blacksmith's shop, adjoining the cattle wharf, Spit, and a quantity of old iron. At the Horse Bazaar to-morrow, at 1.30 p.m., Mr Monteith will sell hacks and trap horses, buggy, harness, mowing machine, produce, furniture, &c. Tenders will be received not later than to-morrow by Mr S. Newbould, Meanee, for erecting a five-roomed house at Papakura near Taradale. A dramatic entertainment by amateurs, in aid of the district school prize fund, will be given in the Town Hall, Hastings, on Thursday evening next. Mr F. Algar, West Clive, has several sums of money to lend on approved security. Messrs Shaw Savill and Co.'s barque Wave Queen is now on the berth for London, and will have quick despatch. She has good passenger accommodation. Mr M. E. Miller has for sale on liberal terms two large shipments of fencing wire and staples, just arrived per Langstone and Wave Queen. Messrs Newton and Co. announce reductions in the prices of their large stock of ladies' and gentlemen's boots and shoes. Messrs Blythe and Co. have hundreds of sponges at threepence each. Woods' eucalyptis balsam is an efficacious remedy for coughs, colds, asthma, and bronchial affections of all kinds. A number of new advertisements will be found in our " Wanted" column.
