Although at times clouds passed over the sun during the transit or Venus at the time of the internal contact, at tbe egress the sun was clear, and an excellent observation was taken here, but the external egress was not seen. The observations were taken by Mr Humphries, Chief Surveyor, and Mr O'Donohue, who was about one hundred yards from the main observatory, and on comparing the seconds there was only one second difference between the two observations.
