At to-day's wool auction 9,600 bales were offered. The tone of the sale was rather weaker. Scoured wools generally are about £d lower than at the close of last sales, and inferior and faulty wools of all kinds l-d to Id lower. Scoured
cross-bred fleece and greasy cross-breds are irregular. Adelaide greasy wools are about id to Id below the closing rates of last sales. Heavy fine cross-breds are in demand and very firm. The homeward mails via San Francisco, which left Auckland on October 8, were delivered here yesterday. November 30. Two of the men charged with being concerned in the muider of a detective in Dublin on the 27th instant have been committed for trial. It is announced that Sir George Ferguson Bowen, Governor of Mauritius, has been appointed to the Governorship of Hong Kong, and that Sir John Pope Hennessy will take the vacant Governorship of Mauritius. The tone of to-day's wool sale was dull, and coarse cross-breds are very depressed. The catalogue comprised 9,100 bales.
