The shipment of frozen meat prepared for her by the New Zealand Refrigerating Company consists of 7266 carcasee, but 1428 of these have been unavoidably shut out, and will be shipped instead by the ship Dunedin, which leaves in about three weeks' time. The principal contributors to this total number are Mr J. Reid, Oamaru, 1013 carcases; Messrs Smith aad Son, Tuapeka. 1003 ; Messrs Murray, Roberts, and Co., Strath-Taieri, 971 ; W. J. Doughs, Waimate, 766; New Zealand and Australian Land Company, Clutha, 708; >Mr Studholme, Waimate, 487 ; Mr R. Menlove, Oamaru, 472. Mr J. Shand's Hendon estate, comprising 8000 acres, has been sold by auction to Messrs Boyd Bros, for forty shillings per acre. A fire broke out yesterday in Staffordstreet in an old building formerly Cobb and Co.'s stables, but now Mr Cottle's produce depot. It spread to the bottling store of Hargan and Co., which business was recently taken over by Esther and Low, who state that there was £4000 worth of stock on the premises, of which a considerable quantity was damaged. The buildings belonged to the Hon. W. H. Reynolds. The insurances were on Hargan's stock, in the South British, £1000 (of which £250 was reinsured with the Fire Insurance Association and £200 with the Phoenix) ; Scottish Imperial, £400. On Cottle'a stock, Union, £420. On the building, United, £350 ; London and Lancashire, £150 ; Norwich, £100. The total insurances therefore are £2420. The fire is believed to have been purely accidental.
