The Southern Cross quotes from the Order-book of the Salvation Army some regulations on an important and delicato subject:— "WHAT 13 THE RULE OF THE ARMY "WITH REGARD TO MARRIAGE ? I. Head, quarters is not opposed to marriages which promise the continued 7iappiness and usefulness of the officers. 11. Head-quarters is opposed to marriages projected in haste and repented of at leisure, ■which lead to poverty, stop usefulness, and terminate in misery. 111. Head-quarters advises every officer to make up his or her mind that God' can make and keep them happy, holy, and useful unmarried. When officers have come to this conclusion, they will then be able to wait until He makes known His will in the matter. IV. No marriages can take place without the consent of Head-quarters. "WHAT IS THE RULE OF THE ARMY WITH REGARD TO COURTING ? I. Those who flirt, and are found out, which is usually the case, are sent home again. 11. Those who are proved gnilty of wilful jilting are dismissed in disgrace. 111. None are allowed to do any courting during the first twelve months. IV. If, at the end of that time, any engagements are formed, information to this effect must be forwarded in confidence to the General-in-Chief, who, if ho approves, gives consent to such engagement.
