NOTABILIA.
An entertainment entitled t( An Evening with Charles Dickens," in aid of the funds of St. John's Sunday School library, will be given by Mr W. H. Warren in St. John's school-room this evening. An adjourned meeting of intending members of the Druids Lodge to be shortly opened in this town will be held at Stock's Albion Hotel at 7.30 to-night. All persons wishing to join are requested to attend. Shooting matches will take place at Petane to-morrow, commencing at noon punctually. Coaches to convey competitors leave the Post office at 11 a.m.
Messi-3 Hoadley, Lyon and Co. will dispose of, to-morrow at noon, at their stores, Emei-son-stx-eet, the unsold sections of the Grassmere estate, Meanee, on easy terms at the upset prices. At the Horse Bazaar to-morrow Messrs Monteith and Co. will sell, at 11 a.m., hosiery, ties, scarfs, hats, watches, jewellery, &c, and at 1.30 p.m. horses, vehicles, harness, farm implements, &c. A social entertainment under the auspices of the Work and Win Lodge, 1.0. G.T., will be given in the Oddfellows' Hall, Hastings, on Tuesday evening. The entertainment will consist of a lecture on phrenology by Mr Rush, and songs, recitations, &c, by members of the Order.
The prospectus of the Tambour-Major Opera Company will be published on Monday, in which full particulars will be found. The prices of admission for the season are announced, and family tickets can be obtained up to November 25th. The plan of seats will be opened at Jacobs' Repository on Monday. Caledonian spoats will take place at Petane on New Year's Day, the programme and particulars of which will shortly be announced.
Mr W. Elbourne, Puketapu, provides drovers with a paddock gratis for sheep for the night. Messrs E. Beck and Co., Millei-3 and general merchants, Clive and Hastings, have just received two consignments of drapery. Mr J. B. Hollis offers a reward of 20s for the recovery of a bay gelding, lost from West Clive about the 7fch instant.
Accommodation for a gentleman boarder in a private family can be had on application to " Nemesis" at the office of this paper.
The steamer Go-Ahead leaves for Wei lington .it noon to-morrow.
