A Northern concert, in aid of the Children's Ward of the Napier Hospital, will be given in the Theatre Royal to-night, commencing at 8 o'clock. The concert is under the patronage of His Worship the Mayor.
Settling for the Pefcane races takes place at Villers' hotel, Petane, to-morrow. Messrs Montcith and Co., instructed by the trustee in the estate of Angus McKay, sell to-morrow at 2 p.m. Baltic pine, totara, and rimu timber, &c.
Tenders for alterations to a house on the Bluff hill must be sent in to-morrow, addressed " Tender," care of Mr F. G. Smith, at Messrs Banner and Liddle's, Port Ahuriri.
The reserve fund of the Union Insurance Company has been increased lo £40,000. Mr J. B. Fielder, returning officer, announces that, on the 29th December, an election of two laymen to serve as members of the Church of England Synod of the Diocese of Waiapu will he held. The nomination of candidates must be made to Mr Fielder not later than Friday, December Ist.
Sales of rural lands for cash and on deferred payments in the Counties of Couk and Wairoa will take place at the Land Office, Gisborne, on Thursday, December 7th, and applications for land on deferred payments in the same Counties will be received at the Crown Lands Office, Auckland, up to Monday, December 4th next. General meetings of the creditors of J. T. Johnson and 11. H. Gtinn, bankrupts will be hold at the Court House, Napier, on Wednesday nest, when the debtors will make application for certificates that they have complied with the provisions of the Bankruptcy Acts. In consequence of the numerous enquiries for the unsold portion of the Grassmere estate, Messrs Hoadley, Lyon and Co. have been instructed to offer by auction on Saturday next, at their stores, lots 3, 4, 5, and 29 to 33 inclusive, on terms at the tipsct prices mentioned in advertisement. The first four-horse coach for the pigeon match at Petano on Saturday will (weather permitting) leave the Post Office at 11 a.m. Mr T. B. Cooper, architect, invites tenders for the bricklayer's, plasterer's, carpenter's, and joiner's work required in the erection of the new premises for Mr H. Williams, ironmonger.
Mr W. E. Woods, pharmaceutical chemist, Napier and Hastings, informs the public that owing to increase in business, he has determined to reduce his scale of charges.
