Tbe Manawatu Railway Company recently sent its chairman, Mr Nathan, to Australia to endeavor to float a loan of £225,000 in debentures. The offers received were not, however, satisfactory, and he has returned without placing the amount.
During the 24 hours previous to 9 o'clock on Thursday morning the rainfall registered at the Wellington observatory was 1.23 inches, and during tbe 24 hours ended at 9 a.m. yesterday the amount registered was 0.10 inch.
