FLAX CULTIVATION.
[To the Editor of the Daily Telegraph.] Sir, —Some time ago I remember reading in the fourth page of your valuable paper a reprint from the Wairoa Guardian dealing with the culture of European flax, and giving Mr Davis's valuable ideas as to the mode and cost of production, and of the profits at per acre. I have not Mr Davis' figures of cost, &c, before me, and therefore cannot enter into their correctness or otherwise at present, but if my memory serves me correctly they were not above criticism, while the detailed mode of production leads to the supposition that Mr Davis bad either forgotton a deal of his knowledge of the growth and manufacture of flax, or, else had a great deal to learn. As the flax industry now advocated by Mr Davis cannot be entered upon without considerable outlay, I would suggest the republishing of the schedule of costs, &c, above referred to.—l am, &c,
