" Marry in haste, repent at leisure " is an old saying which comes horn to a good many. I am happy to say, however, it lias not been my experience, for the older I grow tbe more satisfied am I with my little woman. Bless her good heart! lam afraid, however, Mr Peter Campbell has not been so fortnnate as myself. On the Ist of this month the following announcements appeared in the three morning papers : — Campbell—Getrick.—At Melbourne, yesterday (31st ulto.), Peter Campbell, Australian preacher and lecturer, to Elizabeth Agnes Getrick, an English lady, now in Melbourne. —Daily Telegraph. Campbell—Getrick.—On the 31st ult., at Melbourne, Peter Campbell, the Australian traveller and town and country undenominational Protestant missionary, to Elizabeth Agnes Getrick, an English lady, now of Melbourne. —Argus. Campbell—Getrick.—At Melbourne, yesterday at 11 o'clock a.m., Peter Campbell, lecturer, loyalist, and friend of the people, to Elizabeth Agnes Getrick, an English lady, now of Melbourne. — Age.

Now I have not the pleasure of knowing this worthy gentleman who styles himself 'Australian preacher, lecturer, Australian traveller, and town and country undenominational Protestant missionary, loyalist, and friend of the people,' but he and the ' English lady' evidently do not hit it, for in "Wednesday's paper, only thirteen days after the wedding ceremony, I read the following startling announcement: —

I WILL neither pay nor be answerable from this date for any DEBTS which may be contracted or incurred by my wife, ELIZABETH AGNES CAMPBELL, of Melbourne, who signed a mutual Deed of Separation on 9th inst. PETER CAMPBELL.

Melbourne, 12th September, 1882. Dot says that ' A Fortnight's MatrimonialExperience ' would be a good subject for Mr Campbell's next lecture. —Joan Perrybingle in Melbourne "Weekly Times.
