Mr Alexander Lean has been appointed Sheriff of Canterbury, vice Mr A. R. Bloxam.

It commences operations immedintely, and will be known as the Kaiapoi Farm Produce and Milling Company. It takes over the produce business of Blackwell, Evans and Co. and Mr Heat's flour mill.
