HAWKE'S BAY HOSPITAL.
["To the Editor of the Daxus Telegbaph.] Sib,--The Government having undertaken to provide the maintenance of hospitals for the current finaacial year, the committee have determined to utilise their balance in hand on Ist April last, together with all subscriptions received between that date and the Ist April next, for carrying out tbe much needed additions to the present building. The plans (for which tenders are called) provide for an additional twenty beds f making fifty in all, without undue crowding; and further, it is intended, if sufficient funds are forthcoming, to provide a childrens , ward. For the purposes above-mentioned, I now resume mycauvassfor subscriptions, and feel sure I shall not appeal in vain. A cheque to hand to-day from the shearers in a southern shed reminds me that this is tbe season when subscriptions can best be spared, and it is to be hoped that the names of those who, living by labor, need and seek the occasional aid of the institution will not be missing from our published lists of subscribers. —I am, &c, Wμ. Habkeh, Secretary, Napier, October 21st, 1882. *
