Mr W. G. Motley reports upon the operations of the sharemarket during the week as follows: —The market this week has been fairly active, and considerable business has been transacted in Southern Cross Petroleum shares at very satisfactory prices. Insurance shares are rather weaker, but there has been a brisk demand for South British, and a slight enquiry for Nationals. New Zealand Drugs are wanted, and Colonial Banks are firmly held with buyers at 475. Napier Gas continues quiet, with sellers at £9 17s 6d.
