An entertainment under the auspices of the Church of England Temperance Society will be given in St. John's school-room this evening, commencing at 8 o'clock. Mr Lyndon will hold an auction sale of English-made furniture at his mart to-mor-row at 11 a.m. A soiree and concert in connection with the Presbyterian Church will be held in the public hall, Clive, on Thursday evening. Messrs M. R. Miller and Potts will sell 50,000 feet mixed timber by auction at Kaikora on "Wednesday. The prospectus of the Auckland Native Lands Colonisation Company is [published. Mr W. G. Motley has been appointed the local broker. The Wesleyan Church Fancy Fair will be opened by His Worship the Mayor at 3 p.m. on Moiday next at the Theatre Royal. An o ud M'Kay, of Napier, contractor, has filed a declaration in the Supreme Court that he is unable to fulfil his business engagements, and the first meeting of creditors is convened to be held at the Court House, Napier, on Monday, October 30. Mr F. Sutton, chairman of the Clive licensing district officially announces that the local option Jpoll at Clive resulted in the ratepayers declaring that the several licenses under the Licensing Act may be increased. Messrs Monteith and Co. announce their intention of holding periodical land sales at the Horse Bazaar, the first of which will take place about the middle of November. The Meanee Road Board invite tenders for 30 chains of road formation to Tannery road, in two contracts of 15 chains each. Messrs Monteith and Co. have properties at Hastings, Pukahu, Danevirke, Woodville, and Palmerston, for sale. The drawing of the great " Bonanza " consultation on the Melbourne Cup will take place on October 29. Messrs Monteith and Co. have fat crossbred wethers and longwool ewes for sale. Mr Dugleby, architect, invites tenders for the erection of additions to the Bank of Australasia at Waipawa. Messrs Blythe and Co. have just opened up pale shades in fancy hose. Messrs John Bicknell and Sons' sire horse Lord Clyde will run with mares at Willowbrook, Puketapu, this season. Wooas' iron and quinine wine as a remedy in cases of nervous debility, loss of appetite, &c, stands unequalled.
