ODDFELLOWS' ANNIVERSARY AT WAIPAWA.

The ninth anniversary of the Loyal Abbotsford Lodge, 1.0.0. F., M.U., was celebrated at Waipawa yesterday. The day was a glorious one, tbe weather being all that one could desire. From early morning visitors began to pour in, and by noon the town presented a remarkably lively appearance. Bunting was freely displayed all over the town. Tbe several stores closed at 12 o'clock, in order that those employed therein could take part in the festivities. At about 1 o'clock the Waipawa brass band, performing a martial air, led tbe way from the Oddfellows' Hall to the sports ground, which is situated at the rear of the Empire Hotel, where a number of athletic games •were contested. At 3.15 a procession of members of the order was formed at the hall, and, preceded by the band, marched through the principal streets of the town, and back again to the ball. Here three cheers were given for the band, and the members then adjourned to dinner, which was got up in first-clase style by Mr H. Carson. About sixty persons sat down, , and after doing " ample justice," &c, the usual loyal and other toasts were proposed and honored, the who proceedings passing off without a hitch. In the evening a ball took place, at which there was a good attendance, and dancing was kept up with spirit till early morning. The ball-room presented a very bandsome appearance, being tastefully decorated with flags and evergreens.
