AUCKLAND.

September 8. The adjourned inquest into circumstances connected with the death of Mrs Sarah Emily Cleaver (Johnstone) was held yesterday before Dr. Goldsbro'. Thos. Cleaver, the husband of the deceased was examined. The chief point in his evidence was that he was neither coerced nor induced to marry the deceased ; that it was of his own free will; that he had offored to marry,"her before the birth of her child; that he had come to Auckland to provide a home for her, and that after she came to town to be married and before he knew she was in danger he had procured a license and certificate and a wedding ring, His sister-in-law, Mrs Robert Cleaver, corroborated his testimony, She added that on the evening of the deceased's arrival in Auckland she had tea at Mrs Butler's, went for a walk, and had tea for supper.
