LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL.
Monday. The Council met at 2.30 p.m. BILLS. The Orakei Native Reserves Bill, the Mortgage Release Bill, and the Municipal Corporation Act Amendment Bill, were read a second time. The Sheep Act Amendment Bill and the Wellington Harbor Land Bill were read a third time and passed. The Chattels Securities Bill was withdrawn. The Elective Land Boards Bill was thrown out by 20 to 8. QUEBTIONS. Replying to Mr Chamberlin, Mr Oliver said he had no knowledge as to whether the Government intended to prohibit the importation of toy pistols from America. Replying to Mr Eraser, the Premier said that all native reserves in Hawke's Bay were under the control of the natives. PROPOSED WAIHEMO COUNTY. Mr Reynolds moved that the Council resolve itself into a committee of the whole to consider whether the resolution carried on the 3lst of August, on the motion of the Hon. Mr Miller, in reference to the proposed county of Waihemo, should not be read and rescinded. The Premier hoped the Council would negative the motion. After some discussion the motion was withdrawn.
