September 4. A meeting will be held in the County Hall to-day to form a committee to carry out the bazaar in aid of the Mechanics' Institute funds.
Tbe report that a gold-bearing quartz has been discovered at Te Kapu is ascertained to be without foundation.
Mr C. Thompson has called a meeting for 3 o'clock to-night to form a prospecting association to thoroughly prospect the country between Te Reinga and the ranges in the Uriwera country. Mr Thomson, who holds a license from the Governor to prospect anywhere, asks only for assistance in equipping a party. Mr George Mayo is announced to take the chair.
