M'EWAN'S CELEBRATED TNDIA T> AL E A LE, "GLOBE" BRAND?" Melbourne, January B,IBSO. I have examined sample of M'Ewan's Edinburgh India Palr Alb submitted to me, and, as a sample of what can be done by a good, honest brewer, it is perfect. No foreign cheap bitter, such as Quassia—no Poisonous Drug, such as Strychnine, Picric, Acid or Cocculus Indlcus. Nothing but the Products of Pure Malt and Hops, brewed and fermented in a cool atmosphere, and bottled with care. Admirers of first-class British Beer may use this brand as at present offered for sale without disappointment. As a pure wholesome Bottled Ale it may be strongly recommended. WM. JOHNSON, Analytical Chemist to the Government of Victoria*. Chemical Laboratory, School of Arts, Sydney, May 13,1880. I have examined the Sample of M'Ewin's Bottled Alb submitted to me, and find that it contains — Alcohol by weight, 5"40 per cent; or by volume, 6 - 55 per cent. Extractive matter, 306 per cent.; Acid matter, o'l7 per cent. I have also examined the Ale for such deleterious ingredients as are sometimes added to Beer, and have found no indication of their presence. The three first conditions laid down by the Committee for Wine 3 and Beers for the late International Exhibition, as those to which especial prominence would be given, were—lst, Low alcoholic per centage : 2nd, Freedom from acidity ; 3rd Absence of fusel oil; and all these are fulfilled in th Eample.
