The steamer Maori, en route for Wairoa, put back shortly after passing the Old Man'? Bluff on Saturday on account of the heavy southerly wind and sea-, arriving at the Spit about 5 p.m. the same day. Sir Donald yesterday morning, and moored at the breastwork, where she is dis*harging her cargo of coal consigned to the gas works to-day. The Union Steamship Company's s.s. Ringaroma, Captain H. W. H. Chatfield, left Auckland on Friday last at 1.10 p.m., and arrived off Gisborne next at 3.15 o'clock ; landed passengers, but the weather proving to bad to land cargo, proceeded on to Napier, reaching this port at 9 o'clock yesterday morning; experienced strong head winds with high seas. She transferred her cargo, Borne 30 tons, to the ketch Three Brothers, and resumed her voyage for Southern ports and Melbourne at one o'clock. The Wairoa steamers Besult and Maori expect to get a favorable reply to their enquiries re the state of the Wairoa bar this afternoon, and leave for that place during the night. The Union Company's s.s. Boojum is advertised to steam for Wairoa at 7 o'clock to-morrow morning. The s.s. Sir Donald, for Whangaehei has postponed her departure till Wednesday. The Union Company's s.s. Southern Cross is expected to arrive here from Gisborne and Auckland to-night, and is announced to sail for the same places at 2 o'clock to-morrow. besides other cargo she will take some 300 sheep for Auckland. The lighters Admiral, Sir Donald, and Three Brothers discharged the cargo transhipped out of the Bingarooma and Arawata at the breastwork this morning. The ketch Why Not took off a load of wonl to the bar*quf> Cooleen on Saturday, nnd the s.s. Donald is getting her inward cargo to-day.
