WASTE LANDS BOARD.
The Board met this morning at 11 o'clock. Present: The Commissioner of Crown Lands, and commissioners Lieut-Colonel Lambert, Messrs J. Buchanan, E. Harding, and T. Tanner. COBRESPONDENCE. From the Under-Secretary of Crown Lands, calling attention to Gazette No. 69 of the 25th of August, containing a proclamation declaring Urnupapamaro and Maharara blocks to be waste lands of the Crown. From the Chief Surveyor, forwarding report on the Rotokakaranga block, with map attached. The report having been read, and the recommendation of tbe Wairoa County Council as to a timber reserve considered, it was decided that His Excellency the Governor be recommended to reserve from sale about 236 acres for the purposes of public works containing all the totara timber in the block. From the secretary of the Ormondville Small Farm Association, forwarding resolution passed by the committee of management re transfer of section No, 113 from R. Groom toj C. Benbow. The transfer was noted. Eeport from the Ranger on land selected under application No.. 151 in Makaretu reserve, the third instalment to be payable on the 6th December next, and subsequent instalments annually from that date. > Report from the Ranger on sections 32 and 33, Danevirk, and suburban sections 18 and 138, Norsewood. It was decided the occupants be allowed to continue their holdings, the first instalment of purchase money to be paid within three months from this date, and eub-. sequent instalments annually by the 30th September, 1882 and 1883. It was decided that the conditions of occupation had been complied with in respect to the following sections at Ormondville :—Sections 101, 102, 103, 104; 109, 110, 111, 125, 126, 133, 136, 138, and 142 a. The following sections were declared forfeited:—No 28, block 3, Norsewood survey district, and section 39, Victoria Special Settlement. Several other items of formal bnsihess were transacted, and the Board adjourned.
