Several members of the House left last evening for New Plymouth in the Government steamer Stella to make a personal inspection of the New Plymouth harbor works.
William Duncan, cook and steward of the brig Neptune, was charged to-day with concealing 33lbs of tobacco. Tbe Customs authorities elected to sue him for treble value and duty on goods £29 14s, in which amount defendant was fined, or in default six months' imprisonment.
