I have examined sample of M'Ew&n's Edinburgh India Palt; Ale submitted to me, and, as a sample of what can be done by a good, honest brewer, it is perfect. No foreign cheap bitter, such as Quassia—no Poisonous Drug 1 , Buch as Strychnine, Picric, Acid or Cocculus Indicus. Nothing but the Products of Pure Malt and Hops, brewed and fermented in a cool atmosphere, and bottled with care. Admirers of first-class British Beer may use thia brand as at present offered for sale without disappointment. As a pure wholeaoiue Bottled Alk it may be strongly recommended. WM. I have examined the Sample of M'Ewin's Rottled Ale submitted to me, and find that it contains - Alcohol by weight, 5"40 per cent; or by volume, 6 - 55 per cent. Extractive matter, 306 per cent.; Acid matter, o'l7 per cent. I have also examined the Ale for such deleterious ingredients as are sometimes added to Beer, and have found no indication of their presence. The three first eonrlitfons laid doffu by the Committee for Vi inks and Bbkiss for the late International Exhibition, as those to prominence would be given, were— Ist, Tow alcoholic percentage: 2n'i, Freedom from acidity; 3rd Absence of fusel oil; and all these ire fulfilled iv this uample.
